Deep Throat
I wasn't even alive during the whole Watergate affair, however even to me the code name Deep Throat held a huge significance. It was one of those mysteries, that everyone kind of had hope would eventually be solved or rather revealed. And it has been.

Yes....that would be deep-throating...It was difficult formulating my post, so that it didn't sound like I meant that...lol...
Sorry, I was a political idiot as a teenager and didn't pay much attention to politics until I was old enough to vote. So my mind went with the porn thought before the Nixon administration.

Actually I have a feeling that Woodward and Bernstein very likely came up with the name Deep Throat because of the porn movie by that name. Remember this was the early 70's still firmly enmeshed in the sex, drugs, and rock garbage.
Personally, having lived through the entire Watergate thing and the rush of power it gave to the news media... I was rather more disgusted with DT than anything else and I really didn't care who it was. If W&B could've got more milage (more publicity) out of releasing the name - we would've known it then. That's the ONLY reason they didn't release it... I don't care what they say.
Man I really hated that time period - everytime I hear people talking about how great it was - I want to just gag. Be glad you missed it - it was not at all pleasant!
